Support & Troubleshooting Guide
Notion Reauthorization Guide.
Resolve connection issues and restore chat synchronization. If AI Chat Backup displays database errors or asks you to reconnect, follow this guide to authorize the extension correctly.
When is Reauthorization needed?
You may need to reconnect or reauthorize Notion if you experience any of the following:
- The sync button displays: "Notion authorization or database configuration issue, please reconnect."
- The extension popup shows a "Reconnect Notion" button.
- Chat sync processes fail or fail to record in your databases.
- You recently changed your Notion password, workspace, or workspace access permissions.
Step-by-Step Reauthorization
Step 1: Check your Notion workspace
Before initiating the connection, open your Notion workspace in your browser or app and look at the left-hand sidebar:
- Confirm if a page named "AI Chats" already exists in your workspace.
Step 2: Start the reauthorization
- Click the AI Chat Backup icon in the browser toolbar to open the extension popup.
- Click the "Reconnect Notion" or "Reauthorize" button. This will open the official Notion authorization screen.
Step 3: Select your authorization scenario
Based on what you found in Step 1, select the matching method below:
If the page exists in your sidebar:
1. On the Notion connection page, choose "Select pages to share with AIBackup".
2. In the page search list, find and check the existing "AI Chats" page.
3. Click "Allow access" to grant permissions and complete the setup.
If you cannot find the page, or are setting up for the first time:
1. On the Notion connection page, choose "Use a template provided by the developer".
2. The integration will automatically create a fresh "AI Chats" page with pre-configured databases in your workspace.
3. Click "Allow access".
Step 4: Wait for initialization
After clicking Allow access, you will be redirected back to the extension Options page. A progress bar will show the initialization status. Please wait 1 to 2 minutes for the extension to:
- Verify the workspace connection.
- Initialize the necessary "Chats" and "Platforms" databases.
- Write system template structures.
Step 5: Verify connection success
When completed, the Options page will display a green "Authorization successful" indicator along with your Notion user information and active database links.
Common Troubleshooting
- Multiple "AI Chats" pages: Having multiple pages named "AI Chats" can cause sync conflicts. Please delete any duplicate pages (move them to Trash) and keep only one, then repeat the reauthorization.
- Page moved to Trash: If you accidentally delete or archive the template databases in Notion, synchronization will fail. Reauthorize using Scenario B to create a clean workspace template.
- Timeout errors: If the Options page keeps loading, refresh the page and re-run the authorization process. Ensure your internet connection is stable.
