Notion Reauthorization Guide.

Resolve connection issues and restore chat synchronization. If AI Chat Backup displays database errors or asks you to reconnect, follow this guide to authorize the extension correctly.

When is Reauthorization needed?

You may need to reconnect or reauthorize Notion if you experience any of the following:

Step-by-Step Reauthorization

Step 1: Check your Notion workspace

Before initiating the connection, open your Notion workspace in your browser or app and look at the left-hand sidebar:

Step 2: Start the reauthorization

  1. Click the AI Chat Backup icon in the browser toolbar to open the extension popup.
  2. Click the "Reconnect Notion" or "Reauthorize" button. This will open the official Notion authorization screen.

Step 3: Select your authorization scenario

Based on what you found in Step 1, select the matching method below:

Scenario A: You already have an "AI Chats" page in Notion
If the page exists in your sidebar:
1. On the Notion connection page, choose "Select pages to share with AIBackup".
2. In the page search list, find and check the existing "AI Chats" page.
3. Click "Allow access" to grant permissions and complete the setup.
Scenario B: You do NOT have an "AI Chats" page in Notion
If you cannot find the page, or are setting up for the first time:
1. On the Notion connection page, choose "Use a template provided by the developer".
2. The integration will automatically create a fresh "AI Chats" page with pre-configured databases in your workspace.
3. Click "Allow access".

Step 4: Wait for initialization

After clicking Allow access, you will be redirected back to the extension Options page. A progress bar will show the initialization status. Please wait 1 to 2 minutes for the extension to:

When completed, the Options page will display a green "Authorization successful" indicator along with your Notion user information and active database links.
